Help us start another school.

We have seen our staff create a place of health for kids and their families. Through education, mentoring, training and care there is many hopeful futures on the horizon. Let’s see more kids really live.

At its root, the heart of the ministry of Youth With Hope (Jovenes con Esperanza) is preventative. We believe that the best way to help the children of Masaya is to offer them a different path before they experience the harsh realities of life on the streets. The school is run by a loving and caring staff that offers the children a stable family environment where the children learn their value in Christ as human beings. Another aspect that makes Youth With Hope (Jovenes con Esperanza) special is that the ministry is completely run by local Nicaraguans. Our job in Colorado is simply to support the program, staff, and children through prayer, finances, friendship, and emotional support.

Over 12 years ago, a group of us met a band of street boys in Masaya, Nicaragua. Addicted to glue and often subject to abuse and maltreatment on the streets, these boys captured the hearts of all who had the pleasure of meeting them. A home was opened in 2008 in order to offer these boys a future and hope in Jesus Christ. Through many joys and sorrows and over many years of ministry with this group of special boys, one thing became increasingly clear. The key to helping the children of Masaya was to offer them a different path before they ended up on the streets. The ministry’s vision evolved and the it became one of a preventative measure in order to capture the hearts of kids that would statistically end up on the streets. Today, Jovenes con Esperanza is a primary school that offers both boys and girls a Christian education through the love of a family environment. And on Saturdays the school becomes a place for English classes and computer training for secondary students that have graduated from the program. The boys that first captured our hearts are now men. We have life long relationships with them and provide medical attention and feed them on many occasions throughout the year.
